Purere-ki-uta, Purere-ki-tai is a free spinning pūrerehua (bullroarer) cast in crystal gaffer glass using red-orange, emerald green and yellow glass. In a distinct Taranaki style inspired design, it hangs on a stainless steel swivel and is for outdoors or indoors.

Traditionally for Māori, the pūrerehua is a wind instrument (made of wood, bone or stone) hanging on a long cord, that had a distinct sound when spun. It had a number of uses; for some it was a bringer of rain, for others a form of communication between the physical and spiritual realms.

This is a glass piece of art so is to be enjoyed as a hanging piece only and not spun as the traditional forms were. The reflection of light from this piece, at different angles and at different times of the day, has a distinct resonance and healing of it's own, coupled with the surface design placed upon it.

Dimensions - 290mm long, 75mm wide, 20mm thick. Approx 750gms of glass.
